History of our band.......

My husband Terry and I, along with my brother Richard, founded the "Frog Pond Pickers" bluegrass group.  I am also the owner of
JD Productions, LLC.  We reside in Sterling, Virginia with our beautiful daughter.   Music has always been in our families.  My grandmother played organ, my mother piano, and my sister married into a family that played bluegrass.  When I was in my teens, my sister gave the the opportunity to play the double bass.  I had no idea what I was doing, but I kept a beat for the other players and they tolerated me.  I loved it.  I hoped one day that I would actually learn to play.

I married a man who also loved music and in the late 80's, Terry began to play guitar.  My brother, Richard, also wanted to play and this was the beginning of the "Frog Pond Pickers".  Known by this name because our closest intesection was on the Frog Pond Road in Staunton, VA.  We began to meet in Mom's living room to sing and play.  The next generation, my nephew Mark, began to learn guitar and Richard picked up the mandolin.

After almost a full recovery from a devastating illness in the late 90's, I left the corporate world and began to pursue my hobby in photography and graphic arts.  In 2002, I accepted an assignment to assist a bluegrass band with their cd cover and was compensated with a double bass , "Sally".  This is when our living room sessions took on a whole new meaning.  Terry and I began to frequent local open jam sessions and were encouraged by wonderful fellow musicians with whom we've become good friends and joined together to form two bands. We were having such a good time and it attracted others to want to participate.  My sister Cherie decided to learn the banjo and her husband Doug added his beautiful harmony to the group. We continue to improve with our monthly sessions at Mom's and we are having the time of our life bringing music to our family and friends.
