Sweet Bluegrass, Country & Gospel Music
The Frog Pond Pickers began with a few family members playing
bluegrass in the living room of our home in the Shenandoah Valley of
Virginia, not far from the Frog Pond Road. A guitar or two and
mandolin in the living room led the family in traditional songs for
many years. When the Double Bass arrived, we had a band. Adding
the banjo, the group began performing for the public. The group
continues these traditional family gathering and performes locally.
Our core group consists of Joy Dix (lead vocals, double bass), Don Heishman (vocals, guitar), Richard Rathburn (mandolin). With an abundance of talent in the area we can provide up to a 6 member bluegrass band for audiences all over the Shenandoah Valley. Joy and Don often team together for a duet perfect for church affairs, coffee houses and dinner venues.
